Thomas Bisonga, started his career in Kenya and has been involved in developing businesses for Africa, all his working life. His earlier career saw him in the hospitality industry, first at United Touring Company, and later, at Sarova Hotels. He transitioned to the Financial Industry in 2003, joining Stanbic Bank Kenya in the Treasury department, as Head of Sales. In 2006, he moved to South Africa, with Standard Bank where he worked for 3 years supporting the Treasury Sales units across 15 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. As the business in the regions grew, he was tasked with the responsibility of setting up the Regional sales set ups for the Global Markets businesses for Standard/Stanbic bank in Southern Central Africa (based in Gaborone Botswana), and later for Eastern Africa (based in Kenya).
Tom moved to New York in 2010, where he was a conduit, connecting to Standard Bank’s Global Markets Business in Africa, to American Corporates and development partners with Africa interests. In 2014, he moved to Tanzania for 4 years, to run the Corporate and Investment Banking business for Stanbic Bank Tanzania, a role that saw him serve in the Board of the bank as an Executive Director.
He has since returned to his home country Kenya, where he is the Executive and Head of Business Banking, a role that sees him interact and support Commercial entities, as well as Small and Medium scale entities in Kenya, for Stanbic Bank.
