Laurence is responsible for the Financial Services business in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at SAP. This covers all elements of Banking, Insurance and Capital Markets. A veteran of SAP for 15 years, Laurence has held a number of posts including heading the global transformation team, running the Financial Services pre-sales organisation globally, leading the EMEA Value Engineering team for FSI and Core Banking lead for EMEA. Laurence specialises in understanding customer needs and in matching them to the capabilities that SAP and partners possess to assist customers who are contemplating transformation across their organisations. Increasingly this involves reviewing business models and becoming more aligned to a digital approach. He is heavily engaged in looking at the changes that are facing Banks and in promoting the role of innovation within the sector. He is part of the team looking at how SAP views of the bank of the future and has worked with many banks on moving towards becoming a modern financial services organisation capable of meeting the evolving needs of their customers Prior to this role, he was extensively involved in many of the SAP Core Banking transformation projects globally including Nationwide, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, China Minsheng and RBS. Laurence regularly speaks at industry events and is often quoted in industry publications. He also speaks to analysts on behalf of SAP around the strategy for Financial Services Prior to joining SAP, Laurence worked for numerous banks such as Barclays, Lloyds Banking Group and HSBC. He has been involved in major banking, financial and IT projects, including large-scale core systems transformation programmes. Prior to joining SAP, Laurence owned his own consultancy business based Hong Kong and Singapore and has worked extensively in Europe and Asia Pacific. Laurence is married with 2 daughters.
