Nelson Alves (born 1975, Portuguese Citizen) is a trained manager, who started his career working in EY in audit financial services from 1998 to 2005 mainly in the insurance, real estate, construction and public works activities’, in Portugal and in Angola. His clients’ portfolio included National and International Companies. In 2005, he joined Mapfre Asistencia in Portugal as a CFO. In January 2011, he became a Deputy General Manager in the some Company. He played an active role within the Management Committee, helping in organization, innovation and creativity, to ensure the growth and subsistence of the business unit. Nine months later (September 2011), he was nominated as Regional Deputy Director for Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa in Mapfre Assistance, Services and Specialty Risks Unit, where he develop an important role being involved in everything related with the implementation/orientation of the business strategy, planning, and analysis, contacting directly with main clients, brokers and affinities. In February 2014 he was promoted to the position of Regional Director for EMEA in Mapfre Assistance, Services and Specialty Risks Unit, being also part of EMEA MAPFRE Regional Executive Committee, where he stands presently. Educational background Nelson Alves has a degree in Management with specialization in Financial activities (for the Technical University of Lisbon- ISCTE). In 2004 he attended the Statutory Auditors Course from the Portuguese Institute of the Statutory Auditors (ORCOC). And in Madrid in 2011, he completed an International Management Development Program at Alcalá de Henares University (Spain) (a program organized by Mapfre).
