Vicente is a Partner in our Madrid office, focused in the Corporate Finance and Advisory Practice and with twelve years of experience in Financial Services. For the past seven years, Vicente has focused on advising in on and executing transactions in which the target is a Financial Institution or a credit portfolio. Recent restructuring and transactional related responsibilities have included: - Multiple engagements for public and private “bad-banks” and AMCs, including set up strategy, asset perimeter and transfer pricing, asset resolution strategy, target operating model blueprinting, servicing model implementation, etc - Recurrently advises European Banks in the disposal of non-core assets, NPLs and other loan portfolios, ranging from books of vanilla non-performing consumer finance exposures, to complex project finance loans backed by renewable power plants - Multiple engagements in the context of the Spanish banking sector restructuring, including leading the due diligence of several Spanish institutions which have combined total assets of almost EUR 0.6tn, with a focus on loan book quality review and profit sustainability; advising on the acquisition or disposal of troubled institutions; etc - Has led multiple commercial and strategic due diligence of targets, recently with a focus on Spanish activities and banking or collections businesses, In particular, has advised some of the leading international private equity houses in several of the recapitalization / acquisition processes of the Spanish Cajas, and on their acquisitions of servicing and collections platforms - Led several competitive acquisition processes on the acquirer side, including coordinating the due diligence effort of up to 150 people and delivering a DD report; preparing the investment memoranda; supervising the drafting of legal agreements and negotiating with the counterparty; coordinating structuring of transactions to optimize the economic, legal, accounting, regulatory and tax impact - Involved in numerous situations in which a financial institution is facing significant restructuring or resolution, including the identification and disposal of healthy businesses of a European bank undergoing bankruptcy proceedings; assessment of losses in the face of a resolution scenario and supporting a sale to minimise losses; etc In addition, he has conducted broader work in strategy consulting for financial institutions. Some projects include: - Researched, modeled and quantified growth opportunities in emerging markets (EEMEA and LatAm) for a leading banks - Participated in the analysis and restructuring of numerous sales forces at banks and insurers - Development of scenario-based financial planning and expected loss tools as well as leading capital optmisation, RWA management and AIRB migration programmes Vicente first joined Oliver Wyman & Company in 2003. He has also worked in a strategy role at BBVA in Madrid and as a VP in Deutsche Bank’s Corporate Investments / Corporate Development team in London. Vicente is a CFA charter holder, a member of the Madrid Bar, holds a MSc in Finance from the London Business School and holds degrees in Business and in Law (E-3) from ICADE
