Born in Trento, Italy on December 9, 1964. He is married and holds a degree in Business Administration. Started his career as guest researcher at Milan’s Bocconi University before passing on to the Mergers & Acquisitions division at Salomon Bros in London. Moved on to McKinsey and then in 1997 joined Credito Italiano as Head of Planning & Participations. In October 2000 appointed Head of the New Europe Division of the UniCredit Group, in November 2001 appointed Group Deputy General Manager. From August 2003 appointed Head of Retail Division and Chief
Executive Officer of UniCredit Banca the Group’s Bank in charge of Italian Retail.
From July 2007 appointed Group Deputy CEO with the responsibility for the “Retail Strategic
From November 2010 appointed General Manager of UniCredit with Responsibility of Business Area Family & SME, Private banking and Central Eastern Europe.
He is also Deputy Chairman of Supervisory Board of Pekao S.A. and Member of the Supervisory Board UniCredit Bank Austria AG Vienna, UniCredit Bank Zao - Moscow; Member of the Executive Committee of A.B.I, - Italian Banking Association, Roma and Chairman of EFMA, the European Financial Management Association in Paris.
