Consumer finance 2012:
Restoring stability and confidence through co-operation,
new strategies and innovation

Conference 3: Credit risk and debt management
Growth strategies in the ‘new normal’ landscape

Overview
This conference is one of three that are being presented at the same time, under the umbrella of ‘Consumer finance 2012’. This exciting, multi-level programme addresses key challenges in the consumer finance, credit and mortgage sectors. The three dedicated conference streams in this single major international event are:

Credit risk and debt management

Consumer credit

Mortgage lending

A variety of formats will provide fresh perspectives for attendees, covering topics that range from new best practices to consumer behaviour scenario planning. Each conference will include keynote speeches, Q&A discussions and focused sessions that explore a range of important topics.

Key issues
The credit risk and debt management conference will explore a wide variety of different issues:

Organisational performance strategies
• Managing the risk-return relationship at different levels in the bank - and getting other departments aligned.
• More effective ways of defining and managing partnerships and tactics to tighten collections across all debt lifecycle stages.

New insights and lessons
• Ways of gaining a fresh understanding of consumer behaviour in relation to debt.
• Finding out what the future of credit risk looks like and how to learn from past mistakes.
• Gaining a better understanding of credit fraud and reducing damage and future threats.

Rebuilding and redefining the risk culture
• Influencing the shape of a future credit portfolio and making changes to link risk appetite to changing business goals.
• Stress testing for credit risk and counter-party portfolios.
• Adopting more innovative ‘recession-proof’ strategies that minimise loss and write-offs whilst maximising collections.

Coping with new regulations
• Solvency II and building a new set of business rules.
• Managing and mitigating the impact of Basel III.
