10th annual event
A new age of speed, efficiency and connected customer experiences

Overview
The payments industry is facing challenges from all sides: competition and pricing pressures; new regulations; continuing macroeconomic uncertainty; and changing customer demands. Banks need to be flexible and agile to take advantage of the huge potential gains available from the payments sector.

Europe’s premier cards and payments event, now celebrating its tenth year, offers a 360-degree view of the whole payments value chain, including shared experiences and a focus on best practices. It will also explore different products, services and innovative ideas.

Key issues
The topics discussed at this year’s conference will include:

Major trends
• Revenues: Developing the optimum mix of payment instruments across cards and e-payments. Gaining market share in the digital financial services payments sector. How can banks achieve the right mix of credit, corporate, cash and payment revenues?
• Regulations: Will SEPA deliver its true potential and provide benefits for everyone? Can it successfully replace fragmented national payments systems without further regulation?
• Operating models: Traditional models are being severely tested and competition for market share is increasing. Recent changes will have an impact on legacy systems and operational efficiency. There is a move back towards traditional credit cards.

Major challenges
• Alignment: Payments represent a key opportunity for banks, who need to align their departments on issues such as corporate banking, cash management, sales, operations and IT. They also need to ensure that the customer experience is more closely aligned across all channels and regions.
• Collaboration and relationships: How can banks build relationships with retailers? There are challenges in cross-border acquisition connected with the needs of multi-national merchants. How can banks deepen their relationships with both low and high-balance customers?
• Innovation: Developments in pre-paid, gift and reloadable cards; and in transaction banking.
